Yesterday, our SportsMate crew traded running shoes for paddles and headed down to Woodbine Beach for something different—an afternoon of paddle boarding. And let me tell you, it did not disappoint.
We rented our gear from iPaddle Adventures, conveniently set up right on the beach. Within minutes we had boards, paddles, and life jackets in hand, ready to take on Lake Ontario. The staff was friendly and gave us a quick rundown of the basics before we hit the water.
The weather couldn’t have been better—warm sunshine, a light breeze, and clear skies that made the lake sparkle. But what really added excitement to our paddle was the water itself. The waves were strong enough to keep us on our toes (or rather, on our balance), making every moment on the board feel like a mini challenge.
Some of us took the calm approach, kneeling or sitting to ride out the swells, while others tested their balance and stood tall, paddling head-on into the waves. More than once, we ended up splashing into the water, but the laughter that followed was worth it every time.
What made the day so memorable wasn’t just the workout or the thrill of balancing on rolling water—it was the mix of fun and pure summer vibes. We cheered each other on, swapped boards mid-lake, and even raced the waves back toward shore.
By the end of the session, we were sun-kissed, a little tired, and completely recharged. Paddle boarding at Woodbine reminded us of why we love trying new sports: it’s about adventure, connection, and finding joy in movement—whether you stay standing or take a tumble into the lake.
